At 34 years old, German tennis player Tatjana Maria is the oldest woman to play in the Wimbledon semifinals. She has returned to the game less than a year after giving birth to her second child and has still managed to take to the title as the first semifinalist.
For the first time in her 35 appearances in the Grand Slam tournaments, she reached the semifinals.
As Maria quoted on the court, “One year ago, I just gave birth. It’s crazy.” It truly is an amazing feat to be able to have such a comeback, so quickly after childbirth.

Since coming back from maternity leave, it hasn’t been all easy for Maria. She had lost in the first rounds at the US, Australian and French Open.
However, she overcame her difficulties and turned the scores around at Wimbledon. Maria won against three players in a row during her run to the quarterfinals, and fans are waiting with anticipation for her play in the semifinals.
