Former volleyball players move forward with a sexual misconduct lawsuit against their past coach
The lawsuit accuses coach Justin Cochran of alarming levels of inappropriate sexual behaviour, as well as administrators who dismissed concerns about Cochran’s behaviour. Cochran’s actions included vocalising inappropriate sexual comments, sending nude pictures of himself to an individual student, and retaliating against girls who complained about his behaviour.

Three graduates under the moniker ‘Jane Doe’, originally filed the report in October anonymously. One of the plaintiffs dropped out of the lawsuit after the women were forced to identify themselves in court documents.
Details of his actions were further revealed by explaining interactions the coach had with some of his players. In 2018, it was stated that he sent a nude image to a player over Snapchat, whilst talking about his sex life and discussing his penis size. On another occasion, he was seen rubbing a girl's shoulders and calling her “babe”.
When a player pointed out his behaviour, they were addressed by the name “buzzkill”, resulting in a large proportion of the team loyal to Cochran bullying the student by spreading rumours about her around school.
No criminal charges are currently pending against Cochran. It will be interesting to see where the case ends and if any more plaintiffs will be willing to testify and address the matter.
